I'm currently looking for some speakers for the iPod as a bday pressie for my gf and the speaker set that is interesting me at the moment is the Voix MPX iPod dock system.

I'm looking for sound that will impress me, which in turn will really impress her, bearing in mind I'm used to z5500d's.

Requirements are

£260 budget
Not too many speakers, girls don't like lots of cables etc.
Well rounded sound, preferably a sub
Dock/remote system

I have been look into a 2.1 system and just attaching an iPod dock but girls will be more impressed with an integrated solution that looks spangly, hence why the Voix appeals at the moment.

Any help or suggestions?

I cant advise which to buy Gurdas just dont buy the ones in that pic, they look like something wharfdale or ministry of sound would make/sell!!

Any particular reason why that is bad? I've had a listen to them and they produce a very nice well rounded sound, slight lacking in really deep base but then i'm comparing that to my system:p

what about those B&W ones? looks like a Zeppelin or its called it or something, saw them in the apple store, sounded pretty amazing! and looks cool aswell

Too expensive and wasn't that impressed with the sound.

Z5500s + Ipod Dock

Cant go wrong and comes with a remote.

As said before, too many cables and speakers, girls don't appreciate this.

I guess I could just get a dock and cable to hook up to her hifi, so thats £35 for the dock and £7 for a cable, would come with an apple remote too and then spend the remaining £220 on something else for her:p

To be honest that may be a positive route to take as despite the Voix MPX being a nice gadgety thing to have with it's dock on one of the speakers, it costing more than my z5500d's and sounding a tenth as good is quite disheartening:p

How about a decent sounding portable dock with a line out and a cable (so she can still take it somewhere else without taking a hifi apart). And then spend the difference on a beast of a meal.

No need for it to be portable to be honest. 2 tickets to the royal ballet are £180...
