Vaguely looking at iPod touches and noticed that 4th gen iPod touch prices are significantly less than latest 5th gen (especially as 5th gen only starts at 32GB) so 4th gen looks initially attractive.
However, given that 5th gen (and iPhone 5) have larger screen is there any issue of compatibility of apps looming with stuff designed for large screen not working on the older models? From what I can see old apps display on larger screen in a letterboxed form .... but what about anything designed for the larger screen - will they run on a smaller screen (and if so how) or are "small screen" ipod/iphones on the road to obsolecence?
