Ipod Touch Apps Help

Hey,

My girlfreind just brought a second hand ipod touch.

We are trying to get the facebook app and other apps on it but can't seem to do it.

we've downloaded them in itunes but can't them onto the ipod ?

any help i think she should restore it ?

It got the latest software update so really stuck here.

When the iPod is connected to iTunes, have you checked the 'Sync Apps' check box in the Apps tab?

there is no apps tab :S

i always download using the ipod (app store) itself rather than itunes. any reason why you cant do this?

it will ask for your apple username and p/w

no it doesn't have app store on it just a web browser n settings.

If we restored it would it reset everything and all the original apps ?

Sounds like it's got the very old operating system on it.

Pay a tenner and update it to the latest version (within iTunes) as the app store functionality came in 2.0+ iirc.

EDIT: Ah, you said it's got the latest software on it... so in that case try a restore.

it says it's got 1.1.5 i'm guessing that is old.

how would i update it ?

iTunes usually tells you there's an update for your software when you connect the device.

When you've plugged it in, the first tab should be 'Summary' you can restore or check for updates on that tab.

yeah i've checked for updates and it says 1.1.5 is upto date :S

1.1.5 is very old and predates app support.

This worked for me when I had to restore my touch. Download the latest version, I'm assuming your ipod is first gen.

Is there a way to tell what Gen the ipod is ?

the serial number begins with a 1.

And also if i do update the firmware will i lose all my songs on it ?
