Ipod touch Generation?

hi can anyone tell me how to check to find out what generation the ipod touch is i purchased it approx 6-8 months ago

Check on the side of the Touch to see if there are volume controls. If there are, its the new 2nd Generation, if not, then its the 1st gen.

But going by the date of purchase, it will be the 1st gen since the 2nd gen came out in September.
