¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Does anyone know what the differences between different ipod touch generations? I hear the Ipod touch is pretty much the same as an iphone, only without the phone bit... Is it worth getting the latest gen? I want it mainly for the ability to use apps as well as play music, but don't want to say thru the nose for an iphone.

If you buy the update for the 2nd gen ones you get bluetooth unlocked, but thats an extra £6 to do annoyingly.

Not sure what the other upgrades from gen 1 to 2 are (arnt there rumors of a update on it or something soonish)

Mikehunt79 i have had both versions of the ipod touch still got 2nd gen at the minute 2nd gen as a better battery life volume control at the side and a slightly better screen thats all really if you want it just for music and apps then get the 2nd gen. Or if you can wait the 3rd gen is being released end of september start of october only rumors but its meant to have a camera and microphone.

I don't know much about this rumored 3rd gen model but I had a 2g iPod Touch and it was perfect for my needs. Handled everything great and as for improvements over a 1g:

Volume Rocker Switch on the side, the front looks a bit better as it does away with the black plastic front bezel (?) and has a much more round design then the 1g. There is also an external speaker which makes playing the odd game or two a bit nicer as you don't have to have your headphones in.

Whether it is any faster or not than the 1g I couldn't say as I have never tried a 1g.

All depends on what price you can get each one for but a 2g would suit you nicely. ;)
