Hello guys, ive been itching to get an ipod touch for ages, but i refuse to as the capacity just aint big enough in my opinion. Only when it reaches at least 60gb or 120gb will i consider getting one.

Any ideas how long i will be waiting untill this will happen?

Cheers

I reckon we'll see a 64Gb version this year and a 128Gb in a years time. When it hits 128Gb I'll buy another one (I recently sold my 16Gb as it wasn't big enough).

A 64/128Gb version would be amazing!

I loved my 8Gb Touch but it just wasn't big enough, I had to sell it for a classic 120Gb...

Anything under 60Gb for me is pointless, I don't like to constantly add and remove music, I just like to update it all in iTunes and just put it all on an ipod

Plus a 128Gb Touch would be amazing for video

I'm in the same boat, but with an iPhone.

I had to have an iPhone when they came out, but I had to settle for an 8GB one. Now I'm tempted by the 32GB one (Which is JUST enough to fit my music library), but by the time my current contract expires it'll only be six months until the next iPhone is due. So I'm hoping that they have a 64GB one. :D

Presumably is a question of the tech getting cheap enough to mass-produce at these sizes? Is the solid state tech related to, say compact flash or SSDs? I'm fairly clueless about what components make up the touch...

Yes.

Older iPods used hard drives, hence why they ran to 160GB.

I use an 3G 20GB iPod and it's just got enough capacity for my music, however add video usage and I would require a lot more... 32Gb should be enough I would think.

so I guess with top-spec CF cards maxing at 32GB for somewhere north of £150, we have a little way to go before 64GB solid state ipods?

All the iPods (minus the iPod Classic) use flash chips.

Don't forget prices are always falling, so expect a 64GB chip in the touch this year, with a 128GB in 2010 if they decide to go that big.

can an ipod touch play flac files? I've been thinking of getting one...

No, but you can covert the flacs to apple lossless (which it will play). File sizes are slightly smaller as well as apple lossless is a newer codec. Absolutly no loss of qulaity in the coversion either in my experiance, swapped my entire library from flac to apple a while back.

Nice, I'm considering an iPod touch but they're not cheap, but at least it's less money than an iPhone. :)
