iPod Touch/iPhone keep setting a random SODDING time!

Has anyone else experienced this? Every time I sync my iPod touch it sets a completely random time and date. Is there any way around this as it's extremely frustrating.
 
No mate, I don't even know what that means. I only bought it 3 weeks ago.

On a PC. I'm not the only one, a Google search reveals loads of people have the same problem but it doesn't seem like there's a solution.
