iPod touch ipod app crash to home screen

Morning,

I have a 2nd gen iPod touch running 3.1.2 which from this morning plays about 30 seconds of music before crashing to the home screen.

Going to do a restore tonight but wondered if anybody has experienced similar issues? I performed a sync yesterday to copy over some new music so am assuming this may be the cause.

Is all the music reliable? I read that some people have problems if they have poorly encoded music or a bad rip from a scratched CD. Not sure how true that is, but depending on how much you copied over it could be worth have a quick browse through it. If not I'd just restore it.

I found some comments regarding music file quality etc too. In the end I did restore sync'd over the music. So far all is fine, I assume the sync went wrong and corrupted something.
