iPod Touch - multitasking?

OK so a friend of mine has a iPod Touch first generation updated to 4.1. Question is does it have multitasking? Double tapping the home button does nothing - so I assume it does not!?

It doesn't. If you look on the Apple website, about the iOS updates, you will see that the first generation doesn't support multitasking.

Only 3G has it and maybe 2G
