Ipod touch problems!

Ok, I don't know if this is the right place to post but here it goes...

Just got a new itouch 3rd gen and having some problems with setting it up.

I'm getting all sorts of error codes when I'm trying to set it up from itunes.

The error codes im getting are :

THE IPOD COULD NOT BE RESTORED. AN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURRED (1611).

I nearly synced it but then something went wrong and I had to restore it back to it's original state. I tried updating it and then this occured.

What is clearly the problem? I tried all sorts of things from re-installing itunes, moving it about from different usb slots etc. I'm fed up already!

I'd try it on another PC/Laptop if you have access to one, if that doesn't do it I'd say it's a borked so you'll need to take it back from where you got it from for a replacement.
