ipod touch repairs

My son has just managed to drop his ipod touch in the bath! (Never occurred to us that we needed to advise him not to take it into bathroom in case it got wet!) Anyway, seems to have some functionality but the backlight isn't working.

I'm trying the "leave it in a pile of rice" trick at the moment but if that doesn't work will probably have to send it for repair - I expect Apple will not touch it as its water damage but via google I've found a selection of UK companies that claim to do repairs to water damaged ipods - anyone had any experience of any such company and have any recommendations.

Thanks

Likewise I have an ipod touch with a dodgy sleep/power button, if anyone can recommend somewhere to get it fixed or an online guide?
(Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your thread :))

Looking hopeful that we don't need a repair as the "stick it in a pile of rice" trick seems to be working ... after 12 hours could switch it on and backlight worked for ~10sec before going off again .... after another 24 hours it worked for around 5 mins. So its clearly drying out inside (fortunately I gathe it was only underwater for a couple of seconds). So its staying in rice on a radiator for the rest of the week and hopefully it will sort itself out.

Also, hopefully my son will have learnt a lesson in commonsence (expensive hardware and water don't mix) ... though then again last month he did leave his (fortunately old and probably in need of replacing) mobile phone in his trouser pocket when he put them in the dirty clothes pile and after a full wash cycle that was beyond rescue!

My friend left his ipod touch recently in the bathroom for few days, he then showed me some water behind the screen, few days later his iphone stopped working.

ipods and water do not mix!!!
