Hoping someone can help here. There must be lots of you who know someone who has an iPod touch - I hope.

We got one for our daughter for Christmas. After a while she noticed that the bottom left corner of the front screen bends in when pushed and then comes back out with a gentle clicking noise.

The top right hand corner also bends in.

Here's what I mean:

Is this normal. Apple are meant to have great build quality?? This is where I am hoping to get feedback from other people who have an ipod touch in the house - please :)

Anyway, I sent it back and got this very annoying response.

Thank you for choosing AppleCare Service.

Our technicians have performed full diagnostic checks on your IPOD TOUCH (LATE 2009) and have been unable to reproduce the symptom(s) you reported when you requested the repair. As a result of our tests, we can confirm that your product meets Apple specifications for performance, usability, and functionality.

As a part of our assessment and test procedures, your product has had the latest software and firmware updates installed. It is now being returned to you, and you should expect to receive it within two business days along with a letter that provides details about our assessment as well as useful troubleshooting tips.

Were the technicians on drugs. Everybody who has handled the ipod has noticed this and commented that it feels like the front case is not properly attached.

Apple sent it back to us without doing a thing. They are saying it is perfect. All they have achieved is to delete everything my daughter had put on it, so thank god I backed up!

I am going to contact them again, but wanted some feedback from other owners first.

Hoping for replies :D

I dont think it's normal for it to do that. You are probably best to go into an apple store so you can show them in person the problem, you should have better results.

We have an apple reseller in a city close to us, but I'm not sure if they would handle this. In fact I've never seen a dedicated apple store

Id go to that reseller, its still under warrenty i dont think it matters where you bought it. or you could send it to apple again and hope you get a different engineer that notices the problem.

apple resellers are basicly apple stores owned by someone else anyway. good luck getting it fixed. :)

I've noticed mine does it as well. Sort of noticed it a while ago but thought nothing of it. Now someone else has brought it up I've took notice again. Gonna book myself into a Genius Bar next weekend when I'm back in the UK. Just hope they don't take it away and say they'll repair it.

you could allways find the apple guy fixed it ie pushed it in and its actually clicked into place

when you get it back check if not like suggested take it to a store to show prove the fault... good luck

Took mine into the Apple Store today. Fella looked at it and said 'it does flex a bit more than it probably should' and gave me a replacement Touch there and then no bother. Best 10mins customer service ever. They even replaced the screen protector I had on my old one and I didn't even ask for that.
Apple Genius Bar = Top Marks / 5 Stars / 10 out of 10.

Mine used to do that, in fact, my iPhone does it now, it's not a design feature as such, but there's nothing important below that part of the iPod, so you're not going to damage it. I'd leave it as it is, rather than taking it to Apple and paying a £100 triage fee to be told there's nothing wrong.

Their service is great except.... you have to book yourself about 2 weeks in advance. At least that's what we get at London Regents Street.

Really depends where you are, there are two stores here in Bristol, with two stores in such close proximity it's vary rare that a customer can't get a genius appointment that day.
