Hi all

Basically im really starting to get into MP3 players.

i currently have a Creative Zen 8Gb (the very small one)

which is very good, my dad has a ipod and i dont really like itunes that much though im sure i could get used to it (i hope)

is the touch really amazing? should i trade in my zen and turn to Ipod like so many people have or is it not as good as it seems and id be better off sticking with my current player?

any suggestions or tips would be appreciated

thanks

Loki

I have a Touch here, although I use it mostly as a PDA rather than a MP3 player, it's nice and thin and as I am a Mac user syncs very nicely with all my apps :)

As an MP3 player its very nice, the interface is excellent and you get used to the screen very quickly and the sound quality is certainly at the top end of the market. Just wish they would have considered making a version of it with an 80Gb HDD then I could get rid of my iPod Classic.

As for iTunes if you don't like it there are a number of alternatives, especially if you are a PC user although I am not sure if any of them support the Touch at the moment, Google about I'm sure you will find something :)

Got my touch a week ago and super impressed. Best mp3\video player on the market and the bonus of being a pda too.

Very nice mp3 player, good screen and cracking interface to it all. Wif and all the apps make it almost a full pda and with sdk out next year it'll only get more and better apps. I'm probably going to jailbreak mine soon until the sdk is out properly.

I think itunes is pretty sucky too but ok once you get used to it. Would be perfect if they did a 32GB one, I got the 16GB and it's just a tad small to fit multiple moves or tv series on as well as music. Be carefull with XP or Vista x64, no drivers for it yet :( So I have to dual boot back to XP32 to sync untill apple pull their finger out.

I think they are great, sadly no x64 support so I have to dual boot XP32 but apart from that very good.

Surprisingly the web browser works terrific with touch screen, easy to type and navigate. Browsing music and all that jazz is SO much better than using the wheel.

Definitely a quality product.

You can tell it to only sync from one playlist in iTunes, or you could just not put his music into iTunes in the first place ;)

Yes, iTunes should by default automatically convert the WMA files into AAC (or whatever preferences you have set) its a good idea to set it up how you want before importing your music, I use 320Kbps AAC and turn off the DRM, suits my needs- you could also set it to convert to MP3 which wouldn't be a bad idea incase you change player in the future to one that cant play AAC files - just bear in mind that the MP3 converter in iTunes is pretty poor though compared to somthing like CD-EX using the LAME codec.

unfortunatly his music is aleady in itunes and he has no pc knowlege so im prety much stuck having to do it for him *sigh when will old ppl learn ;)

I use Winamp to sync my ipod's (iTunes is evil nasty software)

dunno if it will work with the Touch, but it's free, so give it a whirl...
