I want to use my headset plus USB sound card with Skype on my iPod Touch. It works fine on my macbook.

Is this possible? If so, I assume I would need some form of dock connector?

Why would you want to plug a third party sound card into an ipod touch?!

And you would need an adaptor to turn a traditional headset into one of those all in one connectors that the ipod touch / iphone / most other smartphones seem to use.

I would hope that the sound would improve - both for music and Skype. But it may not be as necessary compared to the macbook with its greater electrical interference inside.

even if you do have a soundcard you can plug into the ipod touch, how do you get the audio into the ipod

i wouldnt have thought the ipod would accept an audio input, deliberately to stop it stealing sales from the more expensive iphone.

Just use the apple iphone earphones & mic ? Afaik it works fine on the iPod touch.

Yes, I believe they do - except I don't like them. :(

OK. It seems the sound card may be a no-no. But I should be able to use my wired headset (inc mic)? I don't really want to spend more money on a bluetooth headset.

Or am I expecting too much from the iPod?

There are adaptors that can turn the two connector headsets into the single connector ones compatible with the iphone. Whether or not this works with the touch I have no idea.

I have the connector the other way myself. As my in-ear headset is an audiophile quality one (not the crappy Apple ones) and I use them at LANs etc.

Thanks for the reply.

The 3gen ipod is meant to have microphone capability. So I shall see if there is a 2 into 1 connector for the headphone socket. Or a similar connector for the dock.

I have ordered a cheap microphone anyway so I can use the ipod as a voice recorder.
