Ipod Touch stuck in a loop

I'm having some problems with an Ipod Touch 3g 8gb. The Ipod was blocked because I couldn't remember my code, so said to connect to Itunes where I thought upon logging into my Itunes account it would recognise the device as being mine - it didn't.

So I read up and did an emergency restore, plugged into Itunes and it downloaded the software to Restore/Update. Unfortunately now it's stuck in a loop of installing the software to the Ipod and coming up with error 3601, before asking me again to restore the software.

I've got the latest version of Itunes and all other apple devices I have work fine on it. Unfortunately don't have another pc/laptop in the house anymore so can't try that.

Anyone know how to get this working please?

Not good

Umm, I would download the software from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ . (trust site)

Then boot into DFU mode (google if you don't know how to) Once it loads up iTunes in recovery mode "Shift click" restore and find the firmware you downloaded.

Worth a shot if anything.

EDIT: Oh wait is that what you did, 'emergency restore'

I had already gone into DFU mode but when going through Itunes it was just going in a loop of restoring.

It's randomly managed to update and restore itself fine now (took about 20 goes) but I have bookmarked that site for future reference, cheers.

just wait....all the apple product is amazing....but need your patient...

You need a spell checker, although even that may not save you.

My touch has been doing something stupid lately, where occasionally on syncing it spends ages "recognising" the device or something. I've re-formatted it twice now. Hmmm.
