iPod touch - when will it get webcam?

Nearly got excited enough to buy an ipod touch, but then read it didn't have a webcam/camera.

Seems a huge thing to miss off especially with the lovely large screen. I'm going to save my money until it has a camera but when will that be? When they due a 4th gen?

I'll have to look at alternatives. on a mac forum the boards are going nuts over lack of camera and all the speculation for jan-march for a camera version.

I'll wait it out, the touch seems crippled without a camera.

I wouldn't say its crippled, on my iPhone the camera is probably the least used feature. why do you want a camera on it out of curiousity?

To take pictures. For the occassions that don't warrant taking out my SLR.
