So up until the other week I hadn't used my iPod since October of last year, and I need to get some music on it for buses in the mornings, however I have a couple of problems. At first when I plugged the 2nd generation iPod into my computer, iTunes told me that it needed to be restored, so I did. The only thing is, the restore actually failed and now my iPod is stuck on the screen that tells me to plug it into iTunes, but I can't recover it because it fails every single time. I believe the iOS that was on the iPod was 4.3.3.

Try putting it into recovery mode? I had to do that a little while ago on my 2G Touch.
This is the mode that the iPod is currently in, however when iTunes tries to restore it, it fails.
