Hey peeps,

A new update for the iPod 5G has been released just download iTunes 7 then go to your iPod, click on update and it should download and install the 1.2 update.

Feature list:
*Gapless playback!
*New quick scrolling feature using letters
*Games support
*Brightness setting

I know there was another thread in Linux, OS X & Open Source regarding the conference, but felt it was appropriate for people who frequent this forum to know about it.

Have fun!

I haven't downloaded the update yet, but do you have any idea what the 'games support' is? Sounds like you might be able to add extra games or something.

Downloadable games from iTunes such as Bejeweled, Cubis 2, Mahjong, Mini golf, Pac Man, Tetris, Texas Hold'em, Vortex, and Zuma which cost $4.99.

Slightly off topic:

The new iPods look good.
Although not the true video iPods we were all expecting.
The new 8Gb Nano looks good as well, new design, hopefully more durable, 8Gb space, 24hour battery.

But im more excited by the new features of iTunes.
Automatic Album Art (Brillient idea, and i'll be using that a lot).
The jukebox style flipping through albums is good as well. Could be useful for HTPCs.

Does anyone have more info on the addition of gapless? I'm probably being naive here, but I didn't think any of the iPod's supported formats allowed gapless playback?

Will it be something to do with how iTunes 7 converts the music?

I quite like the new iTunes, seems to run a lot faster than the older one. I also like the fact I no longerhave to install a 60 meg file to do an update on the firmware, pleased to see that it's all pretty much built in. Brings a new lease of life to my old 4th gen 20 gig.

If it has a small amount of ram to cache the next song it then it can be done
