I went to Newcastle over the weekend (from London) and I was pretty annoyed to find out once on the train I'd left my power charger back at home. I looked in the settings and since updating my iPod Apple have introduced a brightness setting. I turned it to the lowest it would go, so the backlight is literally just visisble. The iPod survived about 7x22 minute episodes of Family Guy and about 5 hours of music. It is still on 50% battery. This is an amazing improvement because it used to die after about 40 minutes of video.
Having said that, there were power outlets on the train up to Newcastle so If I remembered the charger I could have put the brightness on full and enjoyed it more.
