I've found an old 1st gen mini kicking around, and am going to be giving it to one of my cousins. However, they use Windows Media Player exclusively (with MP3 files, no WMA), so getting them to change to iTunes is probably more trouble than it's worth.

I've come across this app which claims to be able to sync a Windows Media Player library with an iPod. I'd try it out if I could, but I don't have a Windows machine available. Has anyone else taken it for a spin? Is it a reliable solution which is worth the money?

Been looking for something like this so i'll probably give it a try when I get my PC up and working again later in the week.

Is there any chance you could get them using Winamp? It's a pretty neat little program and comes with native iPod support, as well as ml_ipod, which is a fantastic plugin for it. I'm sure many other board members will back me up on that one. ;)

Think I'll download the trial when I get home from work and try it as I prefer WMP to iTunes. Should make syncing to my 20gb 3rd gen ipod better! Wonder if you can get tracks of it as well...

Haven't been able to get to my PC just yet...

Working good, it's a little unorthodox in that it WILL stream off an Ipod (which is the feature I want), however it's far from simple and you do need to keep building playlists rather than being able to just play an album like you could in WMP.

I like it though, i'm going to keep it and play around, not sure if i'm going to fork out the money for it yet or stay with Winamp.

[Edit] Gotcha, if you add the songs on the Ipod to your WMP library, they sit there and stream off, and you can play them by album, whatever you want!

Superb. :D

Sorry mate, I forgot about that proggy as my iPod cable is firewire and not usb :-(

would you say its worth it then? I dislike iTunes immensly and would prefer WMP. All I'm interested in really is the ability to add songs to the pod without itunes, does it do this well?

Yes, it does that easy as pie.
