ive put this in photography because its a photoraphy related question (hope thats ok mods)

IPS monitors? how much better are they ?

how many of you use one for photo editing?

looking at the cost of something like the dell U2711

is it worth the extra ?

I have the U2311H and it's been a great upgrade from TN panel.
Where it excels over TN is the better contrast, viewing angles and colour accuracy.
The U2711H also benefits from being 10-bit rather than 8-bit so can show a lot more colours than the average screen.

I haven't seen a 10-bit screen myself so can't comment on the real life differences.

I also game and watch movies on it and it's fine in those areas. I'm not a hardcore gamer but mainly play fps when I do but haven't experienced any ghosting or anything.

I've recently moved from TN panel to IPS (NEC) and I have to say it's amazing. I have a 10-bit monitor and I cannot express how good they are once calibrated for accuracy.

just reading that the u2711 has some sort of anti glare coating which some people done like

anyone have this monitor can comment ?

any other 27" IPS for photo editing that are worth looking at?
