IPv6 settings

Hi folks,

Just moved from Sky to BT, noticed they seem to have IPv6 setup to a degree. I'm not using the HH5 supplied, I'm sticking with my own TP-Link VR900.

Bit of a noob with IPv6, I'm aware no benefit, but just for the sake of it! Want to see if I can get it working... ;)

So the below is my VR900 settings and the results from the www.test-ipv6.com website.

Any ideas folks? The 'Use IPv6 specified by ISP' isn't actually ticked, I just ticked it to show the settings available...

(currently using Google's public DNS servers for both IPv4 and IPv6, well trying)

Not really familiar with the TP Link setup. But you want to receive your addressing via prefix delegation, so you want to tick the option to receive addressing from your ISP.

Not sure how you have a teredo tunnel set up - have you tried this before with an HE tunnel or something, and are those settings still in there?

Never used Teredo/tunnels at all! This is all stock settings, except the DNS servers I added.

Thing is when I tick 'use IPv6 specified by ISP' it asks for the IPv6 address and gateway, which I have no idea. As presume it thinks I would have a static IPv6 IP...

Hmmm........

Ah maybe in TP Link language "use address specified" means "static". Wish they would just use those words.

Are you on the latest firmware etc? Your IPv6 details should just be provided in the same way that your IPv4 details are.

Yup latest firmware. Can't think what I'm missing... Really annoying.

Seems like I'm not being allocated a dynamic IPv6 address, as a result the IPv6 check website, fails on the DNS record as well.

But then says as per the screenshot, it detects an IPv6 address still??

The simulator looks different to your screenshots:

Essentially you enable IPv6, change the addressing to DHCPv6 and then maybe drop and re-establish the PPPoE session. That should get you an IPv6 address on the router. Then in the LAN settings for IPv6 you set it to use prefix delegation, and delegate the prefix from the link to your ISP.

It's a shame imgur doesn't provide an easy way to resize images... :)

If you insert an s, m or l before .png/.jpg it resizes it.

I thought ISPs haven't fully rolled out IPv6 yet and is still in trial? Just checked mine (BT) and says everything I have supports IPv6 except my ISP.

EDIT: Ok nevermind, just realised Chrome and Firefox are both reporting different things: http://i.imgur.com/W662013.png

I have it working on my R7000 - I literally just selected the 'use same settings as IPv4 - PPPoE' and restarted it and I get 10/10 on the test page.

Hmm maybe it's Chrome. Just tried IE and Firefox now you guys mentioned it got a 7/10. Not sure why only a 7 as says it passed all tests run.

Chrome and Edge both give me a 0/10.
