Hi, I've recently been looking at thermometers to use to measure the temperature of caremlising sugar/tempering chocolate but there are many to choose from. I was wondering if anyone on here had any recommendations on which are the best or if it makes any difference (Are all IR thermometers the same).

So I would greatly appreciate any advice :D

I got that one for my dad at christmas - can confirm its fun useful and seems to be accurate too :)

Does need a 9V battery that isn't included though :)

I got that exact same one, and it came with a 9V battery :)

Great for pizza oven floor temp checks! Or just pointing at everything around the house including the gf.

Ive got that exact one when they had them in Aldi, seems to work ok
Excellent stuff then, I'll get one ordered ASAP :D

I plan to get one for my pizza oven, and this one looks quite fun handy: IR Thermometer

I have one of them, although under a different brand name. I verified the temperature readings with my Thermapen and it's accurate enough for most uses but the colour of what you're measuring can make a huge difference. So I wouldn't advise using it for measuring the temperature of custard as when measuring lighter colours, the reading can be several degrees off.

Must resist temptation to ask how hot rexehuk's girlfriend is... :p
