Yesterday iRacing finally announced a proper demo or trial to allow people to try the sim out without having to purchase a month of the service.

If anyone is on the fence about giving it ago there's no better time than now. You can sign up for the demo month, immediately cancel auto-renew (if you wish) and continue to use the sim until the month is up (i.e. cancelling auto-renew doesn't cancel the account immediately).

The two new codes (which can be redeemed at www.iracing.com) are

PR-GPL - aimed at drivers who enjoyed Grand Prix Legends, this code includes all the cars and tracks that you get with the basic subscription, but also includes the Skip Barber and Virginia International Raceway (arguably the best car in the sim, with the best track, 7 circuit layouts!)

PR-NR2003 - more for oval racers, this gives you the basic content as above, but also the Late Model oval racer and Martinsville oval track.

Finally there is one other code which has been going around for a while now, sponsored by Radical UK. PR-RADICAL-ONE-MONTH gets you the basic content with the Radical SR8 car and Silverstone. The only issue is that the Radical car is quite a high level car in the sim, so it takes a long time to earn the licence to actually race it with other drivers.

The best deal is probably the PR-GPL code, because the VIR track gives you so many circuit variations and the Skip Barber is an excellent drive.

Like most sims, steering wheel is required.

Definately worth a try by anyone, as for which one to choose they're both good cars but obviously Oval Vs Road.

One benefit is that (I think) just before the demo ends the Skippy goes to VIR North Course for the week, so if you get your SR as a rookie upto 4.0 then you can race that week with no extra cost, whilst the Late Model doesn't go to Martinsville again till the end of the season.

If/When you do join up, if you go to the forum there is an England club specific (or Celtic/Others if depending on location) where it's a bit less hectic/flamey as the main forum.

Oh, and Read the Sporting Code, and Have Fun :)
