Frankly I can't believe they've known about this for so long yet they wait for the enemy to take advantage before they act

Got to love the comments too...

What's even more hilarious is for $10 more bucks you can get the browser plug-in to target and fire it's weapons. Unfortunately you have to sign up for a WindowsLIVE ID account, which thankfully; no insurgent is willing to do. Hey, they may be insurgents, but they aren't stupid.

The details are slightly different in that article than the one I read elsewhere.

According to the other article the Air force operate all the drones in Afghanistan and Iraq. The CIA covers Pakistan and those have always been encrypted. Its only Air Force birds that have had the links intercepted and even then the picture would be so bad it would often be little or no use as there wasn't the definition to make out the area it was monitoring.

Other thing that surprised me was that they are using over 600 of these things at the moment. Would I be right in saying the UK only has one after the other one was destroyed in Iraq?

Surely that cannot be true.... No one is stupid enough to send data like that unencrypted.
