Had this error message come up, blue screen etc, while installing windows, looked it up and possible problems could have been CPU overheating, PCI cards conflicting (or something like that) or even the ram.

The CPU was running at 46 after reboot, which after reading on this forum didint seem too high, and all pci cards were out, which left the ram.

I have just built a new quad core system with 2 GB of overclockers 6400 ram (the one that was on special offer last week) I removed one stick of it and have so far installed windows without a hitch, but i guess i have 2 questions...

1)The ram itself was quite hot, I could pick it up and hold it but the temperature seemed excessive, is the ram meant to be that hot?

2)Is there anyway to test the ram apart from putting both back in again and see if the error occurs again, or swapping the sticks to find out if its only 1 stick that is faulty?

I would hazard a guess that if i was to return the ram, i would have to return both sticks, which is a bummer because i dont have any ram that can replace it at the minute ^_^

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

Seems its only 1 of the sticks that is faulty, if I put it in on its own, it will get to windows loading and then the error comes up briefly and it will restart the pc.

Have both sticks in, I can get past windows loading but then it just freezes, so....

gonna see about getting it replaced :D

<3 OCuk support line, put me onto the right line of putting the voltages up to 2v, made me a very happy bunny :D
