Hello, I have only just recieved my compents yesterday. since then I have been running multiple program and tests. However I have been hearing some strange noises coming from the system. I can't identify exactly what is making the noise. The noise is very faint when for instance scrolling though Windows startup menu, but when I run 3DMark06 the noise loudends and sound like a squeek/hiss. I am getting really annoyed with this sound now. Please, pelase help me figure out what is going wrong. (This noise is with and without stock clocks)

System specs:

Asus Commadno
Intel E6600
BFG 8800GTX
4GB Crucial Ballistix 5300

I think it must ne one of the above compenetns because that is where the sound is coming from. Again I ask for help, this is realy anoying and worrying and I don't want to properly OC it until I can figure out what it is?

Could it be one of your fans? Maybe the fan on the GTX?

edit: sunday's seem to be a bit dead here! I expect you'll get more help when the week starts :)

I am sure I read a post the other day about someone's BFG 8800 making the noises you are describing, think they are RMAing it.

Yeah I think its the GTX. If I get a chance tomorro I will swap it with a 6800GT and see if it is that. I am pretty miffed though. I buy one of the most expensive GPU's in the world and it is the only thing in my system that is having bloody errors lol.

Could be a squealing capacitor if it's happening under load.

My 7900Gt and others exhibited the same noise some peeps detected the offending caps and applied a little super glue and it fixed the squeal, do so yourself at your own risk.

Have you tried 'muting' the onboard audio?

had the exact same issue mate... happened on my bfg 680i motherboard... happened under load like your's did too... turned out to be one of the caps vibrating at high load (linked in with high memory usage apparantly) BFG RMA's the board for me straight awy though :)
