Irritating QuickTime problem

I updated iTunes to the latest version, and as per usual, it also installed QuickTime. I downloaded QuickTime Alternative and reinstall that, removing QuickTime as I went. However, Firefox now no longer plays any QuickTime videos. When it tries to, it simply stops responding and has to be shut down. I've tried removing QuickTime Alternative as well as Firefox, all to no avail. Is there anything else I can do to fix this?

TIA,

Michael.

You might need to delete the Quicktime extensions in your Firefox install. Go to your Firefox install and look in the Plugins folder and delete any files with Quicktime names. I've got 4 of them here.

Then re-install Quicktime Alternative and you should be OK.

Deleted all the plugin data from the plugins folder, removed QuickTime Alternative, reinstalled, same problem. Anymore ideas?

Alternatively, open about:plugins in FF, and it'll give you the filenames of the Quicktime plugin.
Oooh cool thanks. Didn't know that.

Did you restart PC? Made sure that you set the Quicktime Alternative to install the Mozilla/Firefox plugin?

Yeah I restarted after uninstalling QTA. All the plugins installed as they appear on the about:plugin page, they just don't actually work without crashin firefox.
