Well, some scrote is somehow sending SMS messages to our landline. Who it is, how they got my number and why - I don't know. The phone rings once every 10 minutes or so and it's just the operator's voice saying "SMS Message, press 1 to listen".

Is there a way that anyone knows of to disable my phone from receiving these SMS messages on phones? This is a landline, not a mobile phone.

TIA.

I've had them before now...it's usually compensation companies or more worryingly debt collection scams. You are fine to listen to the message, it shouldn't charge you, that might tell you who the message is from.

From there you should be able to get the number or all SMS blocked by your provider.

Maybe its ringing so much because it keep telling you that you have a message?

Instead of it bein multiple messages, its just alerting you have one?

The messages are just garbley noise that sounds a bit like that chavvy music. Seems to me like some kind of practical joke, it's been going on for the past hour and it's getting very tiresome.

I've just had a read on the net and apparently I can switch off the BT SMS service by ringing a number, I'll try that just now.

Edit - that's the one RDM.

No, what is happening is the phone will ring, I answer it and it's the woman operator robot, it just says "you have received an SMS message, press 1 to listen". Press 1 and all there is is some faint music in the background, it's that chavvy music, not sure what they actually call it.

It's the same message every 7 or 8 minutes.

A couple of my mates live together and we had tremendous fun with this. We used to text the most abusive messages possible to the house phone, sometimes even when sitting all together in the lounge.

Unsurprisingly it stopped working one day.

Sounds odd, that seems more like a number is calling your pretending to be an SMS wanting you to press a key... Maybe it's a trick

If you don't want to receive Voice Texts type *1# and send to 00000. If you want to be able to receive Voice Texts type #1# and send to 00000.
