Hello

My new coolermaster atcs 840 case has an irritating low pitched 'hum' from the side panel, which is quite thin. When I press the side panel in, the sound goes away. I have tried tightening all screws, etc, this doesn't seem to help.

What would be the be way to fix this? Silicone washers for all the case fans, or some kind of acoustic foam on the side panel to increase mass and hopefully stop the vibration?

Thanks

In HAF some have had top fan causing vibration so could well be those big heavier fans.
But might be also HDD vibration coming through those plastic trays.

Foams are mostly air, not mass. You need bitumen mat or something with similar density.

I used to get this with my lian li A10, i eventually worked out that a lot of it was coming from the sata power cables that plug into my hard drives were pressing against the side panel. i couldnt really move them away from the side panel because it was such a tight fit so i fixed it by buying an 800D :P

I put some tiny flat bits of blu-tack where the panels meet the case- they dont sit completely 100% flush now (like 1mm out) but there is no more vibration - not sure if that was the intended use of the blu-tack, or if it was meant for under the fan screws, either way I will try this out too since the top fans still seem a little more noisy than they should be...

The simplest and perhaps among the most effective solution that I have found and stuck by is simply blu-tak.
