Is 100% Fan Speed Bad?

Total noob question here, but I thought it's worth asking.

The fan on my R9 290 when at 100% is absolutely insane, it feels like it's going to take off and the noise is unbearable. This in itself isn't an issue because it's for mining and will be in the cellar.

However, with the fan spinning that fast will it wear out and die? How long are these things meant to last? I had it on 100% last night and it actually woke people up it was so loud.

I can't answer about the health of the fan, but I can say that for me at least ~80% fan speed gives about as much cooling as 100%.

They usually have a MTBF of tens of thousands of hours so it'll be long gone before the fan starts to fail just through wear.

Ah happy days then. Maybe I'm just being over cautious.
