right guys going to order a lappy tonight from outlet but screen is 1366 x 768 are they really that bad should i wait and get the higher res hd one with anti glare for the extra 65 quid ?

i dont want to have to squint though to read text and stuff

its a dell

screen size is 15.6 inch

either 1366x 768 true life
or

1920 x 1080 hd anti glare matte anti reflective

difference in price is for an extra 4 gig of ram and the hd screen is only 40 quid

my concern is that it will be eye straining when surfing the net or reading text cuz the text will be soooooo small

what about gaming the card in it is a mid range card will the higher res screen make it less effective ?

if i drop the game res down to say a 720p res 1280x 720 will i then get black borders top and bottom ?

cheers guys

ok so you guys convinced me just purchased the below

15r se

15.6 inch hd led 1080p 1920x 1080 anti glare ,anti reflective matte screen
8 gig ram
i5 2.6 dual core proccy
blue ray drive
windows 8
amd 7730m graphics
internal backlit keyboard

managed to snag it for 401 inc vat and delivery from the outlet think thats actually a decent deal myself

a bit late with my tuppence worth here but there is absolutely nowt wrong with 1368*768 in a 15" screen. Most people I know have 40" TV screens at that resolution.

Also, with that low end graphics card, your gaming performance at 1080p is going to suck. You will get about half the frames at 1080p that you would have got at 720p. It will suck that bad that you will be forced to lower the resolution. As soon as you lower the resolution on a LCD screen, image quality really starts to suffer.

If you intend to do a lot of gaming on this laptop, then you have made a bad move. Otherwise, obviously 1080p is much nicer than 720p, albeit totally unnecessary for a 15" screen.

:(

cheers mate lol

tbh most games i am going to play will be rts style like bfme, total war , company of heroes and diablo 3 with a little grid which is old

most of these are fairly dated games now

that 7730 is not low end i know its no top end card but its on a par with the gt 640 which is ok for mid range gaming

guy on my other thread has the exact same spec model and screen and has managed to play bf3,batman,tf2, and fall of cybertron all at medium settings in 1080p

medium settings will suit me fine im more about the gameplay than the eye candy

That'll be fine. The 7730m is a decent GPU, not high end but capable. Will be fine for 1080p at lower settings or 720p with medium/high.

yeah i checked a few sites out and i know its a mid range card on a par with a gt 640m and tbh my budget would not have allowed me to get this kind of spec for just over 400 quid

i was looking at gt 630m for that money without bluray or on some models a hd screen.

if its pants i have 7 days to return it or i bet i will easy recoup my money back on the bay

i massively prefer 768p as my 650m can handle 768p far better than 1080p, and it looks fine as it is the screen's native resolution. I honestly don;t see what the fuss is about about needing 1080p.

lol me either but i think i didnt want to get and think wish i had gone for the hd screen this way if i dont like ill send it back.

although i do use my laptop for more watching tv stuff and dvds ,sky player etc etc gaming will only play a small part when im a bit bored

thing is gonna be a good 2 years before i can get another so may aswell get best i can for my budget

i dont mind playing games in a lower res its not like its going to be block city
