Hi all for the last week or two ive got battle field 1943 cus me mates said to so i did :P and it aint bad well tbh.

this is the most ive played on me xbox since i got it about 2 to 3 years ago.
well tonight playing it suddenly froze and made some kinda of noise from me moniter and had loads of squares appeard all over the screen so i had to push the power button on the console then started it up again all was good for about 15mins but then it happend again in battle field.

is this the start of red rings?.

if some one can find a pic of what i may be talking about i could say yes or no thats what i got im sure there was a pic of what ive got on my screen here some where?.

cheers all please advise as ms wont repair replace for any thing other than red rings :( will it die soon or is it a diff fault?.

No, its the game mate.

Me and quite a few mates who I play BF1943 with get exactly the same thing. The game does lock up and requires resetting/turning off the console.

Also every now and then in game you get graphical glitches which are like when you overclock the memory too fast on a graphics card. Nothing to worry about, its game related :)

It is starting to fail, yes.

You may get lucky and it will sort itself out. Of course more likely you will either lose video all together, or get a nice RRoD.

EDIT - While I see where markyb is coming from, I would still be looking at hardware, not software. Of course the easiest way to be sure is play something else for a while and see if it does it.

I can't say I've had a single crash in BF1943.

it does seem more of an over heating thing it looks like artifacts little squares all over the screen.

if it was the game i would expect to see it lock up not show artifacts i may have to kill it if it wont die fully i aint buying a new one its had no use tbh in 2-3 years.

Guys, have you both played BF1943? It does crash the console with the same symptoms.

Have you tried playing other games? Do you get the same issues?

Memphis :- I play BF1943 with 5 friends on all different consoles. Mainly the latest Jaspers, but one has an older model.

We have all at one point had the exact same as the OP. It also happens quite frequently. Locking up/Graphical issues. To me it seems game related as every other game works perfectly for long periods of time. If think theres a thread on the EA forums.

D.Roberts - I would suggest you try some other games.

ok will try other games but it never happend befor this update tuesday played for a full week befor update had no probs this is from av forums this is what i get no pic but he sums it up in words

http://www.avforums.com/forums/xbox...es-squares-screen-done-since-last-update.html

Same thing happened to me, squeak/squares/death, never had a problem until the dash update.

the squeak is from me moniter.

Ah ok.

It guess it sounds more like the console then. I would strongly suggest you try some other games tho. Like I said in my previous posts, It seems many people have had issues with BF1943.

no probs will deff try diff game tomorrow im gonna be honest i must have only clocked up what say 48hrs probably in say 2 years on this machine thats how little i have used it and when i did it was on a std crappy tv now i have it on a crappy moniter at 1024x768 maybe thats making it over heat the gpu as its higher res hence working a little harder so getting hotter than it ever has done and only showing fault now?.

oh well me bros died 1year ago rrod so i know ms will fix it aint all bad i suppose i have me main thing and thats me pc with arma 2 oh yeah.

Not arguing at all mate :), but I've been playing 1943 for hours each day recently and I haven't had a single issue at all, and that too is with a new Jasper machine.

Yes I and around 4 friends had this issue with 1943.

Luckily the game isn't very good so the issues don't really bother me, black triangles form and start bouncing around the screen. Doesn't happen often but I don't get how something that so many people have had happen to them made it into release.

That issue I'm aware of, and is not what the OP is describing.

This sounds like the same thing that happened to my 360 around the time when Gears Of War 1 come out I had a graphical glitch appear on the screen and a screeching noise as it froze up. I had to take it back mate but yours is going to be out of the stores one year warrenty. With what people are saying about Battlefield 1943 being the problem I've not had that with mine.

well im peed off cus i want it to die with rrod so i can get it fixed/new one.

they will not take it back as it is as its a diff fault im sure its to do with gpu over heating cus heres what i have done SHHHhhhhh.

placed it in a towel to cook it well it shut off a few times with two red rings (over heating duh).

so i decided to take towel off and try it in bf 1942 well its been great for 1hr no probs wtf is going on did i reflow the heat sink paste on gpu if so can microsoft tell if i have opend the thing up if i decide to repaste cpu and gpu?.

What it'll be mate is hours after the extended warrenty is over you'll get the 3 RROD ;) lol

I was playing 1943 today with a friend and we BOTH had the black artifacts on screen and his xbox locked up once during our session today, this leads me to believe it is a game issue and not related to the xbox hardware.
