is 3d gaming worth it?

Right now though the tech is still pretty new and hasn't had long enough to take its toll on its users, give it a while and we will start to hear reports of how bad it really is.

The tech isn't new. We had it years ago for a lot less cash, it's only recently that LCD displays have got a fast enough refresh to do what CRT's can.

I had a pair of the shutter glasses way back, and enjoyed playing Quake 3 and such on them. It's a nice effect, but your brain starts compensating for it fairly quickly.

I bought a 120hz monitor last week, so thought I may as well give it a go, got my glasses coming tomorrow, Im looking forward to finding it out how good or not it is.

If i dont like it, expect to see a gtx580/alienware 23" and glasses up on the MM next week :)

Try red & blue first (iZ3D software, go try it, it's free! http://www.iz3d.com/select_download)

See if you like it, try playing CoD etc. I personally think it's quite good, never had any headaches from it. I'm hoping to get a 3D monitor soon also(the cheapest one :P)

Anaglyph is fundamentally different to Stereoscopic though so the 3D you get isn't really going to give you an indication of what it would be like with a 120hz monitor and some 3d glasses

Tbh before people judge it, you need to feel it. Ive had a go and imo it is well worth the money, and the 120hz monitor is worth extra on its own as its so smooth!

got mine here, played a few games with 3d and

graphic is AMAZING but playing battlefield bad company is like learning how to play game all over again, take time to get used to.

The only way to enjoy the 3d experience to the max is to switch off room light and my 2nd monitor as any thing you see through the glasses will show flickers except of the 3d monitor of course.

I am major happy with the GTX480, overclock out of the box, running stable at 850 core and 2000 memory clock via afterburn, I use the auto fan option with the graph to adjust fan speed. loud at load but it keeps the GPU core to max 82c

OcUK rock

It's in the same position as SSD's.
Really impressive for what they are- but so young and new that they are both terribly expensive AND not fully developed. Buy now and you'll be getting something sub standard for twice the price of what it would be at peak.

Thats why OcUK rocks, I buy hardware new from Ocuk and then sell the old gear on MM :) sometimes buy from MM as well like the 4870x2 I had for the last 6 months

I bought the Reactor back in feb and now sandforce controller out I buy it and sell on the old ones , everyone happy

Oh well, that shows how old I am as I don't post everyday only when it comes to upgrade. I started back then when we spray our case black and cut the side out to create windows etc.
