I certainly couldn't feel any large performance difference between my E8400 at stock and at 3.6GHz.
It's a very quick CPU before being overclocked, I wouldn't worry.![]()
This is true, there is'nt a huge noticable difference, ok few secs in some benches, maybe 1 to 2 fps in some games, but its not like its a huge jump.
Mine is clocked @3.6ghz as per sig, basicly only due to it doing it on stock volts, and allows me to run my memory 1:1 which i allways prefer to do if i can.
So even without being able to overclock it, at stock speeds the E8400 is fine for gaming, and other stuff u throw at it.

Thats good to know! Its just because my mobo is crap and doesn't support overclocking. So im just buying it anyway and when i get a new system i will transfer the chip over and then overclock it form there. i heard also its a really good chip for source games
