Is 4 pin ok for OCing C2D?

I've been on AMD systems (Athlon 900mhz -> 3200 Winnie -> Opty146) and recently have been getting my parts so I can upgrade to C2D.

I wanted to find out whether a 4 pin cpu connector would be sufficient for overclocking a C2D e4600 or if I will be better off using an 8 pin?

Many thanks

I managed a overclock on a e6400 on a 4 pin, from 2.1ghz to 3.2ghz.

So yeah you can.

Never noticed a difference in overclocking abilities with my 6300, got to 3.15 either way.

EDIT: You sure that's not the additional 4 pins for the main motherboard connector to bring it from 20 to 24 pins?

Thanks for the info.

Definitely not the additional 4 pins as the 24 pin is 20+4 pin and I plugged the full set in the 24 pin already. The other 4 pin is cpu as it does state in the manual.

Cheers

Shouldn't make any difference. 8 pins are only really advised for quad-cores.
