Is £400 enough for a decentish laptop that can play some games?

Girlfriend recently moved down from where she lived before and she doesn't have a computer, so I'm thinking about getting her a laptop for valentines day. She's not a massive gamer but likes the Sims and **** like that. Would £400 be a decent enough budget for a laptop? If so what sort of spec should I look for? For a little bit more money would I get a lot more spec? Literally have no idea about laptops :(

Thanks

£400 will probably get you the lowest model Core i3 with Intel HD 620 graphics - no dedicated GPU.

I've seen people running GTA V at 1280x720 with this and it manages 30fps or so on low settings so I'm pretty sure you could play The Sims on it. But don't take my word for it as I'm not 100% sure. :p

Haha awesome mate thank you very much :D

An AMD-based laptop would be better than an Intel one at this budget. Still poor in terms of gaming performance, but it the better GPU aspect of the APU should give a few more frames than an i3.

My Lenovo X230 and X250 both runs games with their HD4000 and HD5500 respectively and they were both second-hand.

I think most current integrated Intel HD chips will cope with most games (albeit low-settings). By extension so should the AMDs.
