Is 4GB enough Memory ?

Hi All I,m going to be getting a new Laptop and i just am wondering if 4GB memory is enough or do i need 6 ? i,m not a gamer but watch a few dvds plus look at the net i,m looking at the Dell XPS i7 CPU models at present ..any help please ? thanks :confused:

You're not a gamer but you watch dvd's and surf the web.

You barely need 4gb let alone an i7 based laptop.

Pick up a cheap laptop with a dvd drive and a decent screen.

Depends on the applications you're running. I've just ordered 8GB for my i5 laptop, because it's cheap and I often find myself using 3gb+ so it's nice to have plenty.

for films and internet, 4GB is plenty.

1-4: basic computing tasks
4-8:gaming
8+: video editing/rendering etc.
