Is 500W enough?

Currently in the process of getting some extra parts to build my brother a PC, I'm planning on using an i7 6700K and my old R9 290 DirectCUII.

Will this PSU be enough? Not planning to overclock anything currently on the system currently.

That 290 is capable of drawing 250 watts :eek:

Recommended minimum for a system with that thing in is 600w

I take it you singled that psu out because it's cheap? Well it's not particularly good either. This is much better and is built by Seasonic for Antec.

Should be fine. You could get much worse quality than the one you picked, so it should be fine. It's unlikely anything bad will happen.

Its not a rubbish PSU, its gold and TBH for 40 quid you probably cannot get better.
