Is 550W enough for a 8800GTS?

Just wanted to check about this! Is a 550W power supply enough for an 8800GTS? Reason being I've been getting quite poor performance (5000 odd marks on 3DMark 06 etc). I've been assuming it's the processor holding it back (3500+) which I'm planning on replacing with something a little faster. Do I need to replace the power supply too? Currently I have a HEC-550TD-PTE 550w. Cheers

It looks pretty decent in the specs +12v1 18A, +12v2 17A and it is apparently designed for SLI, doesn't give the combined wattage for the +12v rails but judging by the systems I saw it configured in with a google search you shouldn't have any problems.

Is it anything like this one?

Because if it is, its woefully lacking in combined power at only 240W. It does have seriously butch 3.3v/5v rails, which doesn't help much unfortunately. Ideally the PSU should have something like a minimum 28W/336W for the combined 12v rails. You may well get away with less, but expect trouble. I'd suggest something like this for a little scope with future upgrades at a reasonable cost for the spec/quality. If you're worried you current PSU is having problems get a multimeter and see what the 12v outputs are doing under load, it's the only way to be sure.
