Is 650W enough?

My crashed last night while playing Hunt 1896 and I wondered when I brought a 9070 a couple months ago if my PSU was enough but risked it anyway.

Running a Sapphire (I think) 9070, 16gb DDR4, 5700 X3D, 2tb SSD etc....

Is 650W enough, borderline or be better upgrading?

Said PSU calculator (I used coolermasters) said a 650watter should be more than enough, though power spikes on the 9070 would change that.
I'd have a go at undervolting the card, it may solve your issue and not cost you the price of a PSU upgrade.

850 would be the way to go or if you can afford it 1000 or 1200 watt psu for future proofing.

Your system will probably pull around 400W at stock, which is ok.
I would try to keep the pc consumption 20% under than the PSU is rated, so for a 650W PSU I would keep it under 520W.

Thanks everyone, i'll have a look at undervolting first and a new PSU is that fails.
Try making your GPU as slow as possible. If it still crashes then it's the game. Carp framerate to 60fps, Underclock, undervolt, set power limit for maximum power saving.

That's if the game is constantly crashing and able to repeat it.

Especially older PSUs what they can actually support on the different rails might be relevant - depending on configuration it might not be able to supply enough power to the different parts as needed especially with more modern graphic cards.

If you decide to invest in a new psu then try and work out what you might wish to power in the future - personally I would go for an 850w.

crashed last night

Sometimes gpu drivers and windows crash... is this a one off thing? with a particular game or work load? or does it happen often?

Basically what I'm getting at is, is this a freak event that could be totally down to a random software issue, rather than hardware?
