Is 7900 medium or high end?

7900gtx USED to be top end, it was kicked out buy the 7950gx2 and now has been toppled by the 8800 range.

besides it isnt even in production anymore.

8800 - 1337, uber, mega, etc....
7950gx2 - top-high end
7900gto - mid-high end
7950gt - low-high end
7900gs- top-mid end
7600gt- mid-mid end
7600gs- low-mid end
7300gt- top-low end
7300gs/le - mid-low end
7100/6200 - crap

Yup thats how I see it.

I would consider this as still high end.

My 7800GTX would be mid because I far as I'm concerned, it plays all lthe latest games at the highest settings without comprimise to performance. When I have to start playing around with settings to get the game to perform well, then I know it's low end.

i'd love to see a screenshot of fear running with everything maxed, because i cant do that with an 8800gtx

what ? then youve got some serious issues on that pc of yours unless you happen to be sporting a 30" Dell.

running an X1900XT 512 i can play FEAR @ 1280X1024 8XAA 16XAF full physics options and soft shadows and score between 40 and 90FPS constantly.

Have to agree,

I hope james.miller you are not running that 6600 at stock with a GTX

I have yet to see cpu's making any real big difference in fps, non-playable to playable for example (ie athlon x2 to conroe)

If you can find something to prove me wrong then i might have an excuse to upgrade to a new system :p

im not running it at all at the moment. the ram i ordered wasn't shipped, so i have half a conroe build ready to go but no ram. MY 8800gtx is currently in my opteron rig:(

it was created to be high, end therefore it is still high end

a rolls-royce was created to be high end, and nowa-days an old rr is still high end

the 6800 is high end

:p

Thats why you cant play fear maxed out :p

I have a Golden Sample 7900GS and it's the best graphics card I've ever bought, it can play every game I have on full settings perfectly, bar Company Of Heroes which drops to about 40fps when there's a lot of action onscreen...

I have never used one of the newer cards (eg. 8800 series) but if the 7900GS (golden sample ofc :p ) seems awesome to me then I suppose the 8800 blows it out of the water. So from what I've gathered the 7900 is a mid-range card.

Mid-range doesn't mean bad though; it's a matter of personal taste I think really :)

lol thats like saying my old obsidian voodoo card is high end today................

and you would be correct, if using it with the same rig, everything in that rig would be the best it could be, therefore high end :D
