Is 8GB of Vram enough for the 3070

Nvidia is saying that the 8GB 3070 is fast as or even faster then the 2080ti which has 11GB of vram

Is having only 8GB of vram going be enough ?

It's this gens low end so yes. I'm currently on a 980Ti with 6GB.

Nvidia marketed the 2080ti as being a 4k GPU so if the 3070 is the same performance or faster then that is also a 4K GPU

£500+ is "low end" ?

£500 doesn't seem to get you very much these days

But i say the 3070 is a mid range card ( or you could call it a high end budget GPU )

But i bet any decent 3070 will cost £600+

Well I'm using a 1080 and that still runs 1440p fine for any game, well enough for me so I imagine the 3070 will be fine for that res for its lifespan, 4k I would doubt it though.

There a huge difference to running a 8GB 1080 compared to a 8GB 3070 as the 3070 is close to twice the speed of a 1080 so you be able to ran far higher graphic settings which of cause then uses much more vram..

What do you think, that AMD are going to install 12Gb or 16Gb on their cards and then eat the costs out of their own profit margin, rather than pass on the costs of the memory on to the consumer because they're "didn't cheap out"?

Couldn't find it for sale after a quick look around, but 2016 says hello with a 8GB VRAM GPU for $234...

But we're supposed to believe 8GB on a £500 card in 20/21 is "fine"?

Pull the other one it's got bells on...

But Nvidia knows that some people are just so easily pleased or conned

is 3080 10gb enough for 1440p then? I guess I will stretch my budget if needed, I would like it to last 3-4 years at high settings atleast, 1440@60+fps

Some games will be pushing it now to keep over 60fps with high settings less alone in 3 or 4 years time
and specially now we have the next gen consoles coming out so games over the next few years may push gpu's much harder

Then again for it to cost only half the price of a 2080ti i guess you can't have everything..

If they of sold these 2 gpu's below which one do you think they would have sold more of ?

A very subjective question... As you didn't state the use case I guess it could be more than enough if you're playing minesweeper or solitaire

Or if there still playing on one of them low Resolution 1920x1080 monitors

Of course the 3080Ti is coming by summer, but I hope I can also power through this generation with my 3080 TUF OC which I payed just over £1000 for.

You paid over £1000 for a GPU that has around a £649 RRP
