Thinking of buying a Panasonic 65" OLED TX-65EZ1002B to replace my 50" pioneer kuro plasma
But am not sure if my 9 to 10ft viewing distance is going be to close...
What do you guys think ?

At the moment my main sources for movies are SKYHD, Netflix, Amazon prime (But am thinking of cancelling skyHD )
So most my viewing will most likely be one of these 720p,1080i,1080p

Nope, for a good 1080p source that is optimum, obviously 4K will look great too though you could afford to go bigger there

The 720p streams will start to show their shortcomings though and SD will look a bit rough.

For info I used a calculator when I got my projector, went for 100 inch at 1080p at 12ft and I think that’s worked out pretty much spot on

I have a 65" LG OLED and i'm about 7ft from it, I can confirm that it's amazing.

Obviously SD content looks terrible, but it will unless you're about 50 feet away. Blu-rays look incredible and UHD is another step up again.

have you ever been to an IMAX cinema?

there is no such thing as too close unless your face is pressed up against the screen or a few feet away from a projector.

Lol This comes up all the time and I think the same. The only time it MIGHT be too big is if I have to move my head to see the whole screen.

exactly. i know someone who uses a 49" 4K tv as a gaming monitor. he has no issues sitting 2 feet away from a 49" screen. so 9 feet away from 65" is a huge distance in comparison.

I have a 40" at about 18" or VR at about .025"

I also had (Temp in the dining room) a 120" prjector and sat about 8-9ft away. so 65" at 9ft might be a bit small;)

Not too close. Just make 100% sure that you see a Dolby Vision viewing prior to buying the Panny. Great panel and tech but no Dolby Vision ever on that set was a deal breaker for me. I decided to pass on that basis that I would regret the purchase come CES in January and the Sony A1 is cheaper and throws out a picture which is just as good (once calibrated).

I got no idea which OLED am going get now...

My Heart was set on the Panasonic 65" OLED TX-65EZ1002B but reading about the stutter/drop frame issues has put me off or I would have ordered one of them last week..:(
