Afternoon guys,

Just wondering if it's possible to put something together for around this budget?

A friend asked for his son, who mainly plays fortnite, so that would be the benchmark required for performance.

I've been out the loop for a while and know this is challenging but if we can get as close as possible to the budget that would be great.

Thank you kindly :)

Yes easily if it’s just for Fortnite. Low end 2/3/4 series i5 and board, 8 Gb DDR3 and a mid range graphics card such as a 970 still plows through Fortnite at 1080p. It’s not a demanding game at all. Keep an eye on the MM for lower end hardware.

For example https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/i7-2600k-system-tv-cards-and-sound-cards.18840395/ everything you need except graphics card, monitor, kB and mouse. Find a 970 or even a 780 and you’re away.

Absolutely - helped my nephew build just what MissChief describes. Started out with a GTX 750 build for £200, when I bagged him a 970 for £90 he was bouncing off the walls with happiness!

My son has a 2500K, with a second hand GTX970 and plays Fork-Knife nightly with no issues. Rest of the spec is pretty much mid-ground (16GB ddr3, cheap AIO etc) and he loves it :)

You could go super budget and grab an old office PC off eBay and chuck a dedicated card in it.

At that budget I would only be looking second hand.

I built my 8700K, gtx1080 build under water, almost all second hand. I saved a fortune.

This is the best idea. You can get an i5- 4460 (or similar) with 8GB ram based-machine for about £90. Just make sure there's space for a dedicated card in the model chosen, then chuck in a GTX1050Ti for £140 and you're running the game at ultra effortlessly.
