Is a 3770k worth....

Meh, when you put it that way, £80 doesn't sound too bad, but most would say its not worth the upgrade, unless the stuff you use your PC for could really benefit with the Hyperthreading.
 
I bought a 2nd hand 3770K with a mobo from ravenxxxx for £210 by the time i sold my 3750 and the motherboard i got an upgrade for £30, shop around and jump on the MM be aware though they sell like hotcakes on there.
 
I bought a brand new retail 3770k for £225 in October last year. £214 is a good price for a new one still. Bad for a used one though.
 
I've been thinking about this myself as a 3570k user I have been looking at a change upto a 3770k or a xeon although im only running a single 7950 at the moment im looking to change in the near future when the over priced amd cards come back down to a realistic price, I would imagine that maybe the op is only running a single monitor at 1080 like myself so even though you may lose a bit of performance from only having the four threads and having sli or crossfire both cards wont perform as well as they may do with an 8 threaded cpu ? if your just gaming for the fun of it would it be really be worth the hassle unless your benching and chasing every last point or mark ?

I game on a 2560x1440 monitor, otherwise I think sli would be pointless. I didnt do it in the end, and the deal has ended. I think it was just an itch. The performance I get is just fine imo. Maybe another time.
