Is a 5800X3D still worth it?

As title really, got a 5700X atm.

Ive ummed and arred over the past few months about switching to AM5, but ive not been able to bring myself to spend out becasue of the cost. Even after selling the AM4 stuff it would be costing over £400.

However, seeing the 5800X3D drop in price im considering it as a drop in replacement for the 5700X. Shouldnt be that expensive after selling off the 5700X.

Currently game at 4K on a 60Hz monitor, but considering swapping to a 1440p 120Hz montitor.

A fairly healthy boost in 1% lows though, so a smoother experience overall.

But if you already have a 5700x it’s not like it’s going to be a massive upgrade.

I upgraded from a 3900x to a 5800x3D, my the time is sold my old cpu it wasn’t a particularly expensive upgrade. And I wanted the best gaming cpu for my platform to see me through many years.

Likewise, I did the same and the 1% lows was a massive upgrade, went from a 5900x to 5800x3D and as pointed out the cost was minimal after the 5900x was sold. I would recommend. My main game is iRacing, and it was a gamechanger for me.. Running with a 3080 GPU.

I've got a Ryzen 5 3600x. I was looking at the the 5800x3d or the 5900x. I've got a 3060ti and my monitor is a 32'' 1440 240hz. Both cpus are about the same price. Which one would be better?

My 5800X sits over 5Ghz in boost, while the 5800X3D sits has 4.5GHz so those perf gain will be closed up due to higher clocks for most scenarios.

Really depend on how much the £ difference is between 5700X to 5800x3d.

I've considered this several times I have a 5800x already.

Each time my conclusion is it just isn't worth the hassle.

Some factors for me is I'd need to flash my bios, and also my particular 5800x is quite a good sample, it runs at 5ghz well and relatively cool (for a 5800x).

Yes those are relatively minor factors but I just think digging everything out, new paste on cooler etc etc I just can't be arsed.

Each to their own though.
