Is a big monitor OK with this graphics card?

My old 21 inch monitor (massive heavy old thing) gave out and am just using a little 17 inch LCD.

My PC is currently powered by an AGP card, a RADEON 1950x Pro. I cannot upgrade my PC at the moment to a PCI mobo and new grafix card, but is it possible to use a monitor like the Hanns.G HG281D 28" Widescreen LCD Monitor with my current card?

If I do what would be the issues? FPS games can't be run with acceptable frame rates? What about strategy games like Supreme Commander etc? Would it be usable for normal windows work? browsing, wordprocessing etc?

Regards:)

What FPS games?

It would be fine for normal windows work, browsing etc.

With gaming, anything even vaguely recent will likely be crap on that size screen at full resolution. If you run at the same/similar resolution as before they will be as playable, but don't expect to be running at full resolution.

Even modern top-end cards will struggle with a 28inch monitor and the newest games.

u can always lower the res on monitors to make them (playable) on newer games but the picture wont look as good since its not native res, im not sure what a 28inch would be like doing this , also u can use aspect ratio which helps the pic also in certain cases

I play most FPS titles, TF2 and COD Modern Combat 1.

So are large monitors 28+ no good for FPS unless u have a ninja PC? Or is it if we are runnung them at v hi res?

Would a 24inch be a better choice? any in particular?
