Is a centre speaker on a 5.1 speakers ment to use the subwoofer aswel

Normally when people are speaking there isn't any noise from the sub, unless the actor has a reeeaaaly deep voice. Although if it's music etc then there might be a problem with the connection.

Cos nothing goes into the sub while the center speaker is working while watching dvds,, is that how its ment to be?

If it is a active sub, are you sure you have the levels (i.e volume control) at a high enough setting?

Try playing something that has explosions etc, where you would expect there to be LF effects. If there's nothing, run through your connections again.

Oh, and on that subject, check that it's plugged in!!! :D

The sub channel isn't directional i.e. dependant upon direction of sound origin, it only comes on if the frequency of the sound is low enough irrespective of the sound as per the above comment.

Therefore, the centre channel shouldn't necessarily present with the sub.

If you had a centre speaker that was set to large, then would some of the low frequency effects be handled by the centre speaker if it was centre stage derived, with the lower LF stuff being kicked out to the sub.

I suppose I'm thinking more of a high end THX type system, when the front three speakers may be of the same type.
