ive been offered a DK2 for £40 and I was wondering if they actually still work with some games?

I’d mainly be looking at elite dangerous and dirt rally.

Does using one involve allot of messing around compared to CV or the vive?

For £40, that's certainly a cheap way to check out VR. At this point in time, it still works with the current Oculus software. You can just set it up using the same installer as for the CV1, but you'll need to skip any parts that don't apply to you (setting up Touch etc). Get it from www.oculus.com/setup

As far as software goes, anything on the Oculus store that doesn't need Touch should work (though having an XBox controller will make life easier, and is probably essential if you're going to be playing stuff from the store with a DK2).

I had one for a week. Really didn't rate it. Screendoor was VERY bad in it. Bought a CV1 shortly thereafter, which really is miles better (if 10 times more expensive).

I have both, SDE is more noticeable on the DK2 and everyone's different, but but for me it was never a problem, certainly not enough to break immersion.

CV1's display didn't really blow me away, but the comfort, headphones and above all the touch controllers really make the difference.

Oh BTW if you play Elite, change the HUD text colour to green, makes it much more legible.

Well the guy at work is bringing it in tomorrow says i can have it for the weekend before i give him the money on Monday if i want to keep it so result, looking online hes underselling it for £40 by quite a lot.

I already have my wheel and sticks (X55) set up so guess I will just see how it goes.

I had a DK2. My main problem with it was poor graphical quality. The whole VR side of things was ace and in Assetto Corsa when i got in a car my brain couldn't process what was going on at first.
Got used to it but sadly the poor graphics put me off. If the quality was the same as what I see on my TV I'd be really happy.
I sold my DK2 but will see what the next gen headsets are like as I don't know if a CV1 would be good enough.

DK2 for price of a game is well worth it. I got one for £100 just to see if I could get on with VR and despite the lower res it did give a good indication of what it was like. Google Earth was pretty good to be honest and my kids loved that.
Dirt 2 was a good race game to try. I just can't get on with VR due to my eyesight and it makes me want to throw up after 15 minutes with a headache that lasts half a day. No matter how much people tell me it gets better its not worth it for me.
I`ll invest in VR when you dont need a headset !
